From zombie apocalypse movies to preppers, we seem to love to think about everything falling apart. In this course, students will examine how societies have declined and collapsed in the past, as well as common popular apocalyptic narratives. We explore the ways in which many of our popular visions of how society falls apart differ from the historical and archaeological record, and what that tells us about ourselves.
