About Library Instruction at Transy: Library Instruction Program Mission

Overview of the Library Instruction Plan for Transylvania University

Mission for our Instruction Program

The Transylvania University Library Instruction Program is learner-centered and takes an active engagement approach to teach information literacy concepts and educational technology tools, resources, and platforms. The library instruction program was developed and is updated with consideration for the diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and needs of library patrons to better prepare our campus community in a society with overlapping information and technology needs. Transy Library values diverse perspectives and designs instruction that focus on the learner’s needs while fostering critical evaluation skills in the use of research and technology resources. Library instructors teach and encourage students to take a hands-on approach to research and using technology thereby engaging students critically in applying information literacy and educational technology concepts in their own personal and academic endeavors. To this extent, the Transylvania University Library Instruction program works across all departments and academic programs to support our entire campus community.
