"StoryCorps’ mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world."--StoryCorps
In 2019, StoryCorps launched the #STONEWALLOUTLOUD series in an effort to preserve the stories of the LGBTQ community using the StoryCorps App. The Transy Library & Student Life Team are partnering together for PRIDE week to bring LGBTQIA+ stories to the forefront. Anyone can participate and we want to hear your stories and the stories of others. Watch the video below to download the app and conduct an interview that will be archived in the Library of Congress.
Identify someone to interview.
Download the StoryCorps App on your mobile device (works great on iPads, too).
Watch the video and look at the toolkit and tips listed under “Resources.”
Make sure your device has at least 500MB of available storage space. Do a test interview for a few minutes to check your microphone, sound, etc. (you can delete the test later)
A StoryCorps App interview cannot exceed 45 minutes so pick a few meaningful questions. The app suggests questions or you can develop your own.
Share your questions with your interviewee ahead of time; review “10 conversation Tips”
Find a quiet, distraction-free place to record and listen.
Be sure to add the following tags to your interview before uploading to StoryCorps #stonewalloutloud and #TransyPRIDE
